Job description

We are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to support mission-critical infrastructure for a federal client. In this role, you will manage and maintain Linux servers such as RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu, ensuring system integrity, performance, availability, and security across enterprise environments. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot server software and services while proactively implementing and maintaining enterprise monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system health, availability, performance, and compliance visibility. You will implement and maintain security controls such as firewalls, access management, patching, and system hardening to meet federal compliance standards.

The role also includes developing automation solutions using tools like Bash, Python, and Ansible to streamline administration tasks. You will oversee backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and continuity of operations, as well as configure and troubleshoot network services such as DNS, DHCP, NFS, and VPNs. Additionally, you will respond to and resolve system incidents, conduct root cause analyses, implement preventative measures, and maintain clear technical documentation. You will contribute to and lead infrastructure projects such as upgrades, migrations, and new system implementations.

You'll leverage your abilities as a proactive problem-solver, strong Linux expertise, and a commitment to delivering secure, reliable systems in support of federal operations. If you are passionate about developing reliable enterprise systems in a federal environment and enjoy working in collaborative, mission-driven teams, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in support of Veterans nationwide.

  • Experience building and supporting environments including Testing, Contingency, Production, and Disaster Recovery servers
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and network services
  • Ability to apply and maintain Linux hardening baselines using DoD STIGs, CIS benchmarks, patch management, and vulnerability remediation workflows
