Job description

Join our Cybersecurity Engineering team as a Senior Specialist and help deliver secure, reliable enterprise solutions. In this role, you'll implement and improve security controls and automation within established patterns, help maintain security tools that protect critical applications, and support strong user experience by testing and communicating clearly with stakeholders. You'll collaborate on innovative projects, proactively monitor and maintain security tools, and continuously expand your technical expertise through training and certifications. If you're passionate about cybersecurity, operational excellence, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies to deliver measurable impact, we want to hear from you.

Core Responsibilities

Operational Excellence in Cybersecurity Tools and Processes

  • Implement and enhance network and cloud security controls using a structured, repeatable approach to address security risks where solutions require analysis, iteration, and refinement.
  • Identify and implement risk mitigations within your team's scope and recommend practical process or control improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and peers to define requirements and deliver cybersecurity outcomes, exercising sound judgment and escalating when tradeoffs or ambiguity require alignment.
  • Maintain and optimize network and cloud security tools through timely patching, proactive monitoring, and automation of repetitive tasks.
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate to improve monitoring, alerting, and supporting architectures, increasing reliability and enabling timely detection and response while reducing operational burden.
  • Conduct user experience testing for all changes and communicate proactively with stakeholders.
  • Use approved AI and automation tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to streamline troubleshooting, documentation, and other repetitive tasks.

Knowledge Management and Development

  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive documentation and runbooks for assigned products and services.
  • Complete formal training and pursue certifications in security engineering, cloud security, and AI integration.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of documentation and training processes.
  • Broaden cross-domain knowledge (e.g., networking, DevSecOps, identity management) to improve collaboration and solution design.

Integration, Projects, and Initiatives

  • Deliver assigned project work and resiliency tasks within agreed time, scope, and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to integrations and project execution by collaborating with peers and partner teams, gathering requirements, and implementing your portion of the solution.
  • Create and maintain clear, actionable artifacts (e.g., diagrams, timelines, procedures) and share status and risks with your manager, team, and customers.
  • Support pilots and proof-of-concepts by implementing configurations, validating outcomes with the team, and documenting operational learnings for potential rollout.

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity
  • 2+ years of direct experience deploying, configuring, maintaining, and operating cybersecurity tools and services
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing and supporting network and/or cloud security solutions (e.g., IDS/IPS, WAF, DDoS mitigation, CDN, SIEM, SWG, SASE, ZTNA, CASB)
  • Working knowledge of networking and cloud security concepts, and the ability to apply least privilege and defense in depth within your team's scope
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and controls (e.g., NIST CSF, CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST 800-53)
  • Working knowledge of common compliance and legal requirements (State and Federal) such as SOX, GLBA, and GDPR
  • Familiarity with secure design principles and networking fundamentals; able to assess and improve configurations based on feedback and evolving threats
  • Automation experience preferred (e.g., Python, scripting, Ansible, Salt) to reduce operational toil

Education & Certifications

  • 4-year college degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity (or equivalent)
  • Security certifications (Security+, SSCP, or equivalent)
  • Cloud certifications (CCSK, Cloud+, AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Operating System certifications (Linux+, Server+, or equivalent)
  • Network certifications (Network+, CCNA, or equivalent), * Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical foundation in security engineering, with working knowledge of network and cloud platforms
  • Demonstrable emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and self-regulation
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Resourceful, creative, innovative, results driven, collaborative, and adaptable
  • Ability to work in a complex demanding environment by drawing on a pool of technical experience, business understanding, and good judgment
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while working across multiple projects
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Effective listener who engages with stakeholders to understand their requirements and infer practical solutions
