Job description

Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, you'll join a growing team supporting a multi-site European business across warehouse, distribution, and retail operations. As a technical authority, you'll play a key role in shaping our infrastructure roadmap and influencing architectural decisions across the business.

This is a hands-on yet strategic role, ideal for someone who enjoys balancing deep technical expertise with leadership. You'll drive automation, modernisation, and continuous improvement-strengthening security, optimising performance, and supporting our long-term digital transformation.

What the Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer role will entail?

  • Leading and supporting our hybrid infrastructure estate across on-premises and Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Owning the reliability, performance, security and scalability of servers, networks, cloud platforms and Microsoft 365.
  • Driving automation and Infrastructure as code to improve consistency, speed and operational efficiency.
  • Supporting Azure DevOps and deployment pipelines in partnership with development and application teams.
  • Taking ownership of infrastructure projects - upgrades, migrations, new site deployments and lifecycle refreshes.
  • Strengthening security, disaster recovery and operational resilience through testing, monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Acting as a senior technical escalation point and leading root cause analysis for major incidents.
  • Producing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation, standards and runbooks.
  • Participating in a structured on-call rota and supporting out-of-hours activity where necessary to maintain service continuity across a multi-site operation.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex challenges and building secure, scalable and modern IT environments. You will be confident leading projects, influencing technical decisions, and collaborating across teams to deliver meaningful improvements.

  • 5+ years' experience in infrastructure, systems or network engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Windows Server environments
  • Hybrid Active Directory / Entra ID
  • Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS)
  • Microsoft 365, Intune and modern endpoint management.
  • Experience supporting VMware or equivalent virtualisation platforms and enterprise networking environments.
  • Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure projects end-to-end.
  • A solid understanding of security, disaster recovery and compliance frameworks.
  • Confidence to own technical direction, influence stakeholders and work closely with partners and vendors.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset with a passion for modern infrastructure and continuous improvement.

Benefits & conditions

  • 25 days annual leave entitlement
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Generous staff discounts on all brands we supply
  • Cycle2Work scheme
  • Life assurance & company pension
  • Local gym membership discount
  • Free mortgage advice & £0 broker fee
