Job description

Senior Field Applications Engineer (FAE) with deep expertise in Network Communication Solutions (NCS) and Microcontroller Products. This role places a strong emphasis on Systems Engineering, embedded software tools, debuggers, and advanced C programming skills. As a technical leader, you will partner with customers to enable successful design, integration, and deployment of our wired networking and microcontroller solutions, ensuring they maximize the value of our embedded software ecosystem. This is a remote home office position, however the candidate will be required to live in the greater Portland, Oregon area to support local clients and sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in field applications engineering, embedded software development, or technical support, with a focus on microcontrollers and networking products.
  • Advanced proficiency in C programming for embedded systems, including experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), peripheral drivers, and protocol stacks.
  • Strong hands-on experience with embedded software development tools, IDEs, compilers, and hardware debuggers (e.g., JTAG, SWD).
  • Solid understanding of NCS products, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and related networking protocols.
  • Though the focus will be on NCS, Microcontrollers, and Embedded Software a strong Systems Engineering background and the ability to recognize opportunities throughout Microchip's product offerings is desired.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of customer engagement and technical project management.
