Network SME - Palo Alto - Firewall Specialist

We are seeking a highly experienced Network SME Palo Alto / Firewall Specialist to join our onsite team in Queens Village, NY. This role requires a hands-on security expert who will own and manage enterprise firewall infrastructure, ensuring secure, resilient, and high-performing network environments. You will act as the primary technical authority, leading firewall lifecycle management, VPN architecture (with a focus on GlobalProtect), and advanced troubleshooting through deep packet-level analysis. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize Palo Alto firewalls using Panorama for centralized control and performance consistency
• Lead vulnerability management initiatives, including risk identification and patch deployment
• Design and support Layer 2 & Layer 3 firewall architectures with high availability configurations
• Own VPN infrastructure, especially GlobalProtect, ensuring secure and reliable remote access
• Perform advanced troubleshooting using packet capture and deep-dive diagnostics
• Implement security policies using App-ID, User-ID, and URL/content filtering
• Mentor and upskill team members through knowledge sharing and cross-training

• 6 8+ years of experience in enterprise networking and firewall engineering
• Strong expertise in Palo Alto firewalls and security ecosystem
• Deep understanding of routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS
• Hands-on experience with switching technologies: STP, VTP, VLANs
• Proven experience with NAT, VPNs, and network security implementations
• Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining high-performance network environments
