Job description
- Lead technical baseline development by capturing, analyzing, and finalizing functional and performance requirements; maintain full traceability in DOORS and ensure verifiability ahead of Critical Design Review (CDR)
- Develop functional and physical system architectures; perform trade-off studies and select optimal solutions to advance system maturity toward production readiness
- Organize and lead internal design reviews; facilitate external CDR sessions with customers, suppliers, and certification bodies, ensuring feedback is captured and actions are driven to closure
- Collaborate with integration and test teams to define schedules, maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and develop comprehensive test verification matrices covering HIL and SIL scenarios
- Lead verification activities including execution, analysis of results, discrepancy resolution, and closure to meet CDR baseline and system qualification requirements
- Manage configuration baselines, enforce version control, and perform impact analysis for engineering changes throughout verification and validation phases
- Author and maintain key system documentation including System Requirements Document (SRD), ICDs, design descriptions, test plans, and risk registers
- Prepare and present status reports and executive-level updates on CDR readiness, verification progress, risks, and mitigation strategies
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers; collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure alignment with program goals
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, enhancing configuration management practices, and contributing to lessons learned
Requirements
- Demonstrated systems engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or defense
- Proficiency with tools such as DOORS, CAMEO, MATLAB, or similar systems engineering tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and reliability
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced, dynamic environments
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Understanding of inertial navigation systems and related products
- Experience executing major program milestones such as SRR, SFR, PDR, and CDR
