Job description
The Test Engineer is responsible for the implementation, qualification, and continuous improvement of test processes and test equipment supporting increasingly complex products. This role focuses on hands-on testing, test optimization, failure analysis, and statistical evaluation of test performance. The Test Engineer will proactively identify opportunities-both internal and external-to enhance test capability through new technologies, methodologies, and equipment.
This position requires strong engineering ownership, technical ingenuity, and the ability to debug, troubleshoot, and implement robust test methodologies to ensure comprehensive test coverage while improving quality and reducing overall test cost., * Design, develop, and improve test methodologies, systems, and equipment.
- Create and maintain test recipes and production test processes, monitor process health and yield.
- Perform hands-on testing, failure analysis, and root cause investigation.
- Analyze test data using statistical methods and document findings and recommendations.
- Develop scripts and software to automate testing and integrate hardware systems.
- Provide daily sustaining support to technicians and support issue escalation and resolution.
- Interface with Design Engineering to support design for testability (DFT) and manufacturability (DFM).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement overall test strategies and methodologies.
- Qualify new processes, measurement systems, and test equipment for production use.
- Evaluate, select, and interface with tooling and equipment vendors; support equipment training as needed.
- Develop and maintain test procedures, process documentation, and protocols.
- Perform hand disassembly and assembly of delicate, high-precision mechanical components.
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in testing.
- Take ownership of projects and issues, working independently or as part of a larger team.
- Adapt to changing priorities and business needs in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline required
- 1-2 years of experience supporting test processes and test equipment
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in electronics and interconnect systems.
- Proficiency with standard bench test equipment and test-related software.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Experience with scripting or programming for test automation (Python, C, C++, C# or Visual Studio preferred).
- Exposure to microcontroller-based automation; robotics control knowledge is a plus
- Capabilities in statistical analysis and analytical reporting.

Pay Range Explained: This role in Livermore, California pays between $90,500.00 and $118,755.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off. You'll also be eligible for quarterly profit-sharing bonuses and flexible spending or savings accounts.
