Job description
We're looking for an experienced WordPress Developer with full stack capabilities to join our in-person web team. You'll primarily build and support custom WordPress websites from Figma designs, using Gutenberg, Tailwind CSS, and work with both front-end and back-end technologies.

This position is open for remote or in-person work. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to work three days per week from our Grand Rapids, Michigan office. If remote, occasional travel will be required to our Michigan office for training and other events as needed.

In addition to web development, you'll help maintain server environments, APIs, and database functionality to support our growing list of Catholic clients across the country.

Responsibilities:

Develop responsive, accessible WordPress websites from Figma design files

Build custom WordPress themes and plugins using Tailwind CSS, JavaScript, and PHP

Maintain and work with existing WordPress sites for performance, security, and content updates

Integrate with and maintain RESTful APIs, including OAuth and JSON structures

Troubleshoot and debug front-end and back-end issues across multiple sites

Support and manage web hosting environments (e.g., Apache/Nginx, DNS, SSL, backups)

Optimize MySQL/PostgreSQL queries and manage database schema design

Participate in weekly team standup meetings
Requirements
Experience using Gutenberg to build Wordpress websites is required.

Professional WordPress development experience (custom themes/plugins required)

Proficiency with HTML, Tailwind CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, and responsive design

Solid experience with PHP (Symfony a plus) and database management (MySQL/PostgreSQL)

Comfortable working with Linux servers, cPanel/WHM, cron jobs, PHPMyAdmin and SSL certificates

Familiarity with version control tools like Git

Experience integrating and documenting RESTful APIs (Postman/Swagger helpful)

Understanding of web security best practices (e.g., SQL injection, XSS mitigation)
