Job description

Clearance: U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a government public trust clearance.

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Dev Technology Group project team to support our government client and their mission.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide software development, continuous integration, software delivery, systems administration, software quality, and systems documentation support to our federal government client's digital assets
  • Meet with the Application Development Team and content contributors to develop and discuss strategies and plans for our government client's web products, to analyze web content needs, and to propose ways the client's web products can address those needs
  • Assist with configuration, usage, and monitoring of cloud-based infrastructure services, including but not limited to Cloudbees, Ansible, Terraform, AWS EKS, EC2, RDS, Lambda, Elastic Container Service, CloudFormation
  • Assist in building a strong technical foundation in build, release, and production using continuous integration tools such as Jenkins and infrastructure provisioning tools such Ansible
  • Engage with various client personnel to understand requirements to develop better software for the Bureau and identify new ways in which the development team can easily solve client issues
  • Collaborate with the client on the design, development, and data teams to build valuable tools that benefit the client's day-to-day operations and broader missions
  • Provide training and expertise on a variety of DevOps methodologies, technologies, best practices, and tools, along with insight into new technologies and solutions that could help the Application Team and the client at large
  • Assist in the development of Use Cases, Requirements Definition Documents, User and Administration Manuals, Detailed Design Specifications, and Training Manuals and Plans

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is required or experience in lieu of a degree, with a combined 3 years of experience related to software development using the following:
  • Delivers software to a containerized cloud environment (e.g., AWS, EKS, Docker), with a focus on optimization, troubleshooting, and monitoring
  • Practical knowledge of LINUX and LINUX configuration practices
  • Utilizes Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to develop, deploy, and maintain environments and services with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Bash Scripting automation)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Docker and Jenkins
  • Builds and maintains CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, tooling, and processes to support development, deployment, and monitoring
  • Must have experience working with clients to identify solutions, provide a collaborative experience, and resolve issues efficiently
  • Must demonstrate exceptional verbal, written, and open communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to obtain, interpret, and deliver requirements
  • Must be able to work with a team and be a self-starter who remains flexible within a dynamic environment
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, and/or Python desired

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • AWS Certification preferred

Our estimated salary range for this position is $72,000-$115,000. This presented salary range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Offered salary is based on education, experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements as appropriate to the role. *Salary could fall outside of this range.
