Agile Defense is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team supporting a mission-critical federal law enforcement program. In this role, you will help architect and maintain secure, high-availability systems that directly enable national criminal justice operations. You'll play a hands-on role in engineering, integration, deployment, testing, and maintenance of infrastructure and software environments, all while working within a dynamic Project Management Office (PMO).
This position offers the opportunity to engage with a wide range of technical challenges-from virtualization to scripting to system interoperability while supporting law enforcement professionals in the field and across the nation.
Clearance:
- Active Top Secret clearance required
Responsibilities/Duties:

Infrastructure & Systems Engineering. Design, implement, and maintain the core systems infrastructure that supports secure, reliable, and scalable IT operations. o Design, configure, and maintain infrastructure components including firewalls and switches. o Applying Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS) to firewalls and switches. o Support and manage virtual and hyperconverged environments. o Install, configure, upgrade, and migrate Windows Server and SQL Server software. o Participate in the design and delivery of information and operational support systems.

Automation & Scripting. Leverage scripting to automate tasks, enhance efficiency, and support system management across the enterprise. o Write clean, effective scripts using Python, PowerShell, Ruby, Perl, or similar languages.

Environment Management & Testing. Support the creation and maintenance of test environments to ensure system functionality, security, and performance meet mission requirements. o Manage and maintain software verification and validation (V&V) environments, including hardware and network components. o Build and maintain User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environments as needed. o Install Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software in test environments on a routine basis. o Participate in Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) exercises in assigned roles.

Technical Documentation & Procurement Support. Contribute to program planning and acquisitions by developing technical documentation and supporting procurement processes. o Draft and update procurement documents such as Statements of Work (SOWs) and Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs). o Support program planning and future procurements through gap analyses and technical recommendations. o Identify, evaluate, and assist in resolving program risks and issues.

Security & Compliance Review. Ensure system and network designs meet evolving security standards and technical requirements. o Review and provide recommendations on proposed network and system designs to ensure compliance with security policies. o Assist in designing secure system configurations when needed.

Liaison & Stakeholder Support. Serve as a trusted technical advisor and communication bridge between stakeholders, administrators, and engineering teams. o Liaise with hardware/software support teams, stakeholders, and end users to support integration and troubleshooting. o Review deliverables and provide technical feedback and approval recommendations. o Attend local meetings and relevant conferences as required. o Prepare and deliver technical briefings and presentations within established deadlines., * Happy - Be Infectious. Requirements

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years' experience in systems engineering, including infrastructure and virtualization support.

Experience with: o Designing enterprise networks including LAN, WAN, cloud solutions, software defined networking, load balancing, zero trust, WAN optimization, network encryption solutions. o Firewalls, switches o Virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, Nutanix, VMWare) o Windows Server and SQL Server o Scripting in Python, PowerShell, or equivalent

Strong communication skills and ability to provide consultative technical guidance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Jira implementation
- Relevant certifications such as: o Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) o Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) o VMware Data Center Virtualization Our Core Values
