Job description

So, what exactly does a Back-End Developer do? They're the masterminds behind the scenes, building the robust engine that powers web applications. Think of it as constructing the core logic, the hidden infrastructure that makes everything work seamlessly. They're not focused on what you see on the screen, but rather on the intricate server-side operations, crafting APIs, developing essential libraries, and ensuring all the system components play nicely together. Their mission? To architect and implement solutions that are not just functional, but also incredibly effective and efficient, always keeping an eye on performance demands and the ultimate goals of the website. They're the ones developing and managing those crucial Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), creating smart ways to store and handle data, and meticulously writing, testing, and maintaining code to solve any glitches. Plus, they're the innovative thinkers, brainstorming new features with designers and system administrators, and building out the website's architecture using proven methodologies like Agile Scrum. They bring order to system logic, are problem-solvers extraordinaire, and are wizards at debugging and troubleshooting applications., * Design, build, and maintain essential backend services using .NET on Azure.

  • Craft clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code, complete with proper documentation.
  • Make smart, informed technical decisions regarding performance, scalability, cost, and reliability.
  • Implement event-driven architectures to ensure super-efficient system communication.
  • Take ownership of features from start to finish: from discovery and design right through to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Champion best practices in code quality, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive and complete solutions.

You'll also be a key player in architectural decisions, skillfully balancing business needs with technical excellence. Your input will be vital in ensuring our solutions are secure, scalable, and built to last for the future., Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.

Do you want this too? Do you aspire to be the best version of yourself? We are delighted to support your development and invest in an environment where continuous learning is encouraged. We provide you with the freedom to innovate and take initiative. By offering numerous growth opportunities, we help you exceed your own expectations and excel in your work, enabling you to grow both personally and professionally.

Moreover, you can expect the following benefits based on a 36 or 40-hour working week:

  • An Employee Benefit Budget equivalent to 10% of your monthly income, which you can use according to your preferences. This budget allows you to purchase additional holiday days or make additional contributions to your pension.

Requirements

  • You'll need to be in the Amsterdam office 1 to 2 days a week. Wednesdays are often the team day, but this is something that can be discussed within the team.
  • Feel free to submit your CV in either Dutch or English.
  • Being able to speak Dutch is a requirement for this role., We're looking for a seasoned backend developer with a solid track record. If you've got 7+ years of backend development experience and a deep understanding of .NET Core and C#, you'll fit right in.

You'll be a fantastic fit if you have practical experience with Azure services, including Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, Key Vault, App Insights, and Container Apps. Plus, having worked with event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Kafka would be a huge plus!

We also value experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and containers (Docker/Kubernetes). Basically, if you're comfortable building and deploying modern applications, we want to hear from you.

What truly sets candidates apart are their strengths:

  • Being able to communicate clearly and proactively with everyone, whether they're tech-savvy or not.
  • Having a keen eye for code quality, security, and top-notch performance.
  • A real knack for collaborating with DevOps and frontend teams to get things done.
  • A genuine curiosity and creativity when it comes to exploring and using new technologies.
  • A strong commitment to building solutions that are not only impactful but also built for the future.

While not a dealbreaker, any work experience in the energy sector would be a bonus!

Benefits & conditions

  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of location-independent work, depending on the team's planning.
  • 100% reimbursement of commuting costs if you travel using public transportation. If you commute by car or motorcycle, you can opt for a commuting allowance.
  • A pension scheme with a contribution rate of only 5% from your side.
