Job description
You'll be working on a critical enterprise data platform that powers access to centralized data warehouse systems through high scale APIs. This platform is a core part of the organization's data ecosystem, serving ~12 million API requests per day and enabling teams across the business to reliably discover, manage, and consume data., We're looking for a Senior Backend / Platform Engineer to help scale and automate an enterprise GitOps-driven data management platform. This platform governs thousands of tables in a centralized data warehouse and enables reliable, governed deployments through automation.
In this role, you'll sit at the intersection of application code, configuration, and infrastructure-as-code, helping build the automation layer that makes large-scale, governed data platforms possible.
What You'll Do

Build and evolve backend services that automate the full lifecycle of enterprise data products and metadata

Design and maintain a GitOps-based deployment engine, using CI/CD pipelines and Terraform to manage data assets at scale

Implement robust change management and access control mechanisms to support governance across thousands of distributed entities

Create self-service APIs and automation that reduce friction for data producers and platform users

Support the reliability, performance, and scalability of CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native infrastructure

Partner closely with platform, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver secure and efficient systems

Requirements
5+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering

Strong programming experience with Python (or a comparable backend language)

Deep hands-on expertise with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code

Proven experience building and scaling GitOps-based CI/CD workflows

Solid understanding of cloud platforms and distributed data systems

Strong system design fundamentals and experience building APIs at scale

Comfort working in high-throughput, production environments where reliability and cost efficiency matter * Experience with data or metadata standards (e.g., Open Data Contracts)

Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized workloads

Exposure to building internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure
