Job description

We are seeking a Senior Monitoring Architect to lead the design and implementation of the enterprise monitoring and observability framework across critical banking applications. This role is centered on monitoring architecture, solution design, and application onboarding, with a strong focus on establishing scalable standards and driving consistent adoption of enterprise monitoring tools. A key component of this role includes leading observability strategy and monitoring coverage for M365 (including Teams and Copilot), with an emphasis on end-user experience and service health. The architect will work cross-functionally with Application Production Support (APS), development, and infrastructure teams to ensure all applications are properly instrumented, onboarded, and aligned to enterprise monitoring standards. Day-to-Day:

  • Design and own the enterprise monitoring architecture, including frameworks, standards, and tooling strategy
  • Lead and drive the end-to-end onboarding of applications into enterprise monitoring platforms
  • Define and standardize monitoring design patterns, including instrumentation, alerting, tagging, and dashboarding
  • Architect scalable monitoring solutions using tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Tivoli Monitoring, Catchpoint, or similar
  • Establish and enforce governance and best practices for monitoring across all application teams
  • Partner with development and APS teams to ensure applications are properly instrumented and onboarded from design through production
  • Lead monitoring strategy and implementation for M365 services, including Ms Teams and Copilot, focusing on service health and user experience
  • Provide architectural guidance for monitoring across cloud, containerized, and on-prem environments
  • Define KPIs and metrics to measure monitoring coverage, onboarding progress, and effectiveness

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in monitoring/observability architecture, production systems architecture, or related fields
  • Proven experience in designing monitoring solutions and frameworks at an enterprise level
  • Strong, hands-on experience leading application onboarding into monitoring platforms (this is critical)
  • Experience defining instrumentation standards, alerting strategies, and monitoring design patterns
  • Experience monitoring M365 services (Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Copilot)
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as: Dynatrace, Splunk, Tivoli Monitoring, Micro Focus SiteScope, Catchpoint.
  • Experience supporting cloud and containerized environments (AWS, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Windows/Unix systems and N-tier architectures.
  • Programming experience with Java or .NET.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes.
