Job description

We are seeking a motivated DevOps Engineer Jr. to support enterprise cloud architecture design, development, and integration efforts within secure federal environments. This role involves working across multi-cloud platforms to build scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native solutions while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards.

The selected candidate will contribute to cloud architecture, DevOps/DevSecOps implementation, and system integration, while supporting modernization initiatives and maintaining high availability and performance across distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and integrate cloud architectures and solutions across enterprise environments

  • Support the implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-native applications

  • Lead requirements analysis, system design, and architecture development for complex cloud and hybrid systems

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation

  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to enable automated deployment and integration

  • Architect and deploy containerized applications using Kubernetes, Docker, and related technologies

  • Implement cloud security best practices, including IAM, monitoring, logging, and compliance controls

  • Perform system integration, testing, validation, and troubleshooting across cloud environments

  • Optimize system performance, scalability, reliability, and availability

  • Conduct technical evaluations and trade-off analyses for architecture decisions

  • Support cloud modernization and migration initiatives from legacy systems

  • Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and design reviews for engineering teams

  • Ensure adherence to cybersecurity standards, policies, and federal compliance requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (Master s: 6+ years | PhD considered in lieu of experience)

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or cloud architecture

  • Active or Interim Secret Clearance (ability to maintain required)

  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent (IAT Level II Certification)

  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OCI)

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)

  • Experience implementing DevOps/DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

  • Proficiency in scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash, Go, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud security

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting DoD or USAF cloud environments (e.g., Cloud One, Platform One)

  • Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture principles

  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Elastic, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana)

  • Familiarity with Identity and Access Management solutions (Active Directory, Azure AD, IAM)

  • Experience with OpenShift or advanced Kubernetes platforms

  • Experience working with external vendors and partners on cloud solutions

Certifications:

Required:

IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent)

Preferred:

  • IAT Level III Certification (for security-focused responsibilities)

  • One or more cloud certifications, such as:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer

  • AWS Certified Developer
