  • People over process Position Description We are seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to support programs within our Space Portfolio. Candidates must be experienced, detail-oriented, and capable of architecting, implementing, and securing advanced mission systems operating across classified and unclassified environments. Responsibilities: System Security Engineering: * Design, implement, and maintain secure system architectures for cloud and on-premise environments. * Develop and apply security configurations for operating systems, containers, and networks. * Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines to enable secure-by-design software delivery. Risk and Compliance: * Apply the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST SP 800-53 controls throughout the system lifecycle. * Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) efforts, including documentation, testing, and evidence collection. * Conduct security impact analyses and participate in design reviews for new capabilities. Vulnerability Management: * Perform regular vulnerability assessments using tools such as ACAS, Nessus, and OpenSCAP. * Validate, track, and remediate security findings in coordination with development and operations teams. * Monitor system logs and network traffic for indicators of compromise or configuration drift. Automation and Monitoring: * Develop scripts and automation to support continuous monitoring, compliance scanning, and security enforcement. * Collaborate with DevOps teams to maintain secure container registries, build pipelines, and deployment environments. * Integrate security alerts into centralized dashboards to improve incident visibility and response times. Collaboration and Leadership: * Partner with ISSOs, ISSMs, and system owners to align system designs with security and accreditation requirements. * Mentor junior engineers and promote a security-first mindset across teams. * Communicate complex security topics clearly to both technical and program leadership audiences. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field; Master's preferred.

  • 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, with at least 3 years supporting DoD or government systems.

  • Strong understanding of RMF, NIST 800-53, and related security control frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability management, configuration hardening, and patch management.

  • Experience with cloud and container security in environments such as AWS, Azure, Docker, or Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and security automation tools (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible, etc.).

  • Experience developing or maintaining ATO packages and working within eMASS.

  • Knowledge of secure networking, encryption, and access control mechanisms.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills. Travel: 10%

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen Nice to Have: * Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related discipline.

  • CISSP, CASP+, CEH, or Security+ certification.

  • Experience supporting space, defense, or mission-critical programs.

  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and identity management solutions.

  • Experience integrating SIEM tools such as Splunk, ELK Stack, or Graylog.

  • Knowledge of automation for compliance (e.g., Infrastructure as Code security).

  • Familiarity with penetration testing and red team methodologies.

  • Understanding of MBSE integration and digital engineering environments.
