- Core Knowledge & Skills: Works across multiple languages and platforms, designs and implements architectural decisions, applies design patterns, cloud-native services, IAAS/PAAS/SAAS basics, and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
- Work & Complexity: Performs complex tasks under limited guidance, integrates and troubleshoots distributed or cloud services, and optimizes performance and scalability.
- Quality & Independence: Sets a high bar for code quality, multitasks effectively, owns and corrects errors quickly, and drives continuous improvement.
- Teamwork & Communication: Leads code reviews, mentors teammates, and translates technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Consulting & Engagement: Works directly with clients without oversight, writes technical RFP content when needed, nurtures client relationships, and manages routine client concerns., The Senior Developer with Analytics will lead the design and implementation of advanced data analytics and processing solutions supporting law enforcement missions. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, mentoring, and direct client engagement., * Architect and develop scalable, high-performance analytics and data processing systems
- Design and optimize complex database queries and data pipelines
- Perform data migration, preparation, modeling, and indexing for analytics platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated data solutions
- Mentor junior developers and promote development best practices
- Engage directly with customers to gather requirements and present technical solutions
- Contribute to written deliverables and technical documentation
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DHS 6C Public Trust clearance
- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science preferred, or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of software development experience, including at least 1 year focused on analytics
- Strong experience with:
- Python (including data science libraries)
- SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL and/or Oracle)
- Data warehouses and data lakes
- Apache Spark and Databricks
- Elasticsearch
- Ability to work onsite in Crystal City, VA 1-2 days per week
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience mentoring or leading technical teams
- Prior experience supporting government or mission-critical environments
- Advanced analytics, data modeling, or large-scale data processing experience
Benefits & conditions
At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $100,000-$150,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
