Job description

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer (Security Emphasis) to support development and sustainment efforts within secure DoW cloud environments, including mission systems supporting the Mobility Air Forces. This role focuses on designing and developing backend services that implement Zero Trust Architecture controls aligned with NIST SP 800-207 and the DoW Zero Trust Strategy within AWS GovCloud IL5 and IL6 environments.

You will operate within an Agile environment and mentor junior developers. This role emphasizes building robust backend services that enable Zero Trust enforcement, while also contributing to reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical software.

What you will do:

Design, implement, test, and deploy backend features using Java and .NET in AWS GovCloud including Zero Trust Architecture patterns aligned to NIST SP 800-207. Lead the development of RESTful services, API endpoints, and backend integration patterns. Architect and implement microservices, serverless functions, and containerized workloads using AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, Fargate, and API Gateway. Build and optimize data models, SQL queries, and relational database operations. Participate in architecture reviews, design sessions, and backlog refinement. Conduct code reviews and refactor existing backend components for scalability, maintainability, and security. Integrate backend services into CI/CD pipelines with automated builds, tests, and scans. Ensure secure coding practices and interpret output from static and dynamic security analysis tools. Use scripting languages, including Python and Bash, to automate operational and deployment tasks. Troubleshoot complex backend issues across application logic, integrations, data stores, and cloud resources. Mentor team members in API design, backend architecture, and secure coding patterns. Engineer identity-centric access controls using SAML, OIDC, OAuth2, and mTLS. Implement Policy Enforcement Points and Policy Decision Points. Support RMF documentation and ATO processes.

Requirements

Experience implementing Zero Trust principles in DoW environments. Strong AWS IAM and Kubernetes security experience. Ability to work with minimal direction. Strong documentation and architecture communication skills. Proficiency with AWS cloud computing environments. In depth knowledge of Java and the ability to also code in .NET languages. Ability to troubleshoot code at a senior level. Able to work with minimal day-to-day direction when collaborating with a small team. Knows when to ask for help when blocked and knows when to help others when they are blocked. You should be familiar with AWS Cloud (EC2, IAM, CloudWatch) Kubernetes security and service mesh NIST 800-53 and RMF processes DevSecOps pipeline integration Linux, Python, or Bash scripting Cloud (AWS) Containerization and virtualization technologies like Docker Agile methodology Experience with SQL scripts and relational database operations This position seeks candidates for remote work in the St. Louis area., Minimum Experience: 5+ years (including at least 3 years in Java development). Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. Security+ required. CISSP or AWS Architect certifications are desired. Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required. DoD or federal government experience preferred.
