As a Cloud Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the deployment, operation, and maintenance of customer cloud environments on AWS. This also includes the remote operation and management of customer-owned servers as a managed service.

In addition, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) with version control. Furthermore, the following tasks await you, * Administration and maintenance of Windows-based systems and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments; general Linux administration is also part of the role.

  • Administration, operation, and troubleshooting of database systems with a focus on MS SQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Operation and troubleshooting of network connectivity for customers, including:
  • VPN connectivity between AWS environments and customer cloud environments (AWS VPN).
  • Operation and maintenance of OPNsense firewalls to ensure secure connectivity to on-premises customer environments.
  • Technical discussions with customer IT departments regarding network design, connectivity, security requirements, and troubleshooting.
  • Continuous monitoring of systems and services using tools such as Zabbix and Grafana, including proactive incident detection, as well as handling incidents, issues, and changes in accordance with defined IT service management processes using Jira Service Management.
  • Participation in on-call/duty schedules to support business-critical systems and maintain service level agreements.

Requirements

We are looking for experienced cloud experts with a background in IT, computer science, engineering, or a comparable qualification. You have concrete professional experience in the operation and management of AWS-based cloud environments and enjoy building and maintaining high-performance, stable environments.

Ideally, you also bring the following:

  • You have in-depth practical experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform, Ansible) as well as the routine use of Git-based version control platforms (e.g., GitHub).
  • You have in-depth knowledge of Windows administration as well as solid knowledge of Linux administration and are accustomed to confidently discussing technical network and security topics with IT departments. In doing so, you rely on your excellent German and English language skills at all times.
  • You have solid expertise in network concepts, VPN technologies, firewalling, and secure connectivity; experience operating OPNsense is a major advantage.
  • You possess knowledge of the principles and best practices of information security; experience in an ISO 27001-compliant environment is advantageous.
