Job description
Job Description: IS4S is seeking a field support engineer or representative (FSE/FSR) in Auburn, AL or Aberdeen, MD. This person would play a vital part in hands on integration and demonstration of emerging capabilities to warfighters and leaders. Typical activities and responsibilities for the candidate are as follows: Apply knowledge of sensors, RF, networking, and computing to integrate systems and connect data pathways Diagnose problems, troubleshoot issues, and identify solutions to aid customers Educate and train customers and users on systems, their integration, and operation Work in the field and on test ranges with military equipment, collaborating with industry and government colleagues to demonstrate capabilities The challenges facing our nation are constantly evolving. Therefore, we are looking for self-driven team members willing and able to constantly learn, adapt, and find ways to develop and integrate solutions. Selected applicants will be expected to gain familiarity with the underlying domain (e.g., EW, Fires, PNT) and its role in the larger system of systems to incorporate warfighter needs throughout the solution. They will be given freedom to solve problems and develop solutions with the expectation of owning their tasks and responsibilities. They will also integrate into an existing team that provides support and to ensure designs and solutions conform to and enhance the end product. Required Abilities, Experience, and Skills
Requirements
Bachelors degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or related technical field (for full-time applicants) Ability to comprehend complex systems and identify interconnections and functions of both internal and external systems/subsystems/services Knowledge of programming languages to support development and integration of system drivers and adapters needed to communicate across systems Working knowledge of computer networking, routing, and IP-based communications Be able to problem-solve and develop solutions in front of customers, users, and stakeholders Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage tasks with minimal direction Must be able to lift and carry computing and networking equipment in support of transit, installation, and usage Possess strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging customers and users as well as communicating successes, challenges, and issues to the development teams Able to travel CONUS and OCONUS to support demonstrations, training, and exercises, potentially lasting multiple weeks and/or working non-standard hours to match event schedules US Citizenship is required
Desired Experience and Skills: Working knowledge of Electromagnetic Warfare, PNT, radios, and other RF equipment Understanding of various hardware electronic interfaces and protocols Understanding of tactical networks, including enterprise, satellite, terrestrial, and mobile, ad hoc networks (MANETs) Demonstrated integrations between systems requiring adapting/translating between multiple data models to enable communication and joint system operation Familiarity with military compute systems and compute environments Familiarity with standard DevSecOps practices and platforms (e.g., git) Experience with Mission Command or C2 systems, especially those dealing with Fires and Electromagnetic Warfare Familiarity with Army processes and operations
