Job description
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead and own enterprise backup and recovery systems, Microsoft SCCM infrastructure, and storage platforms. This role is responsible not only for day to day administration, but also for architecture, reliability, continuous improvement, and mentorship of junior engineers. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and the ability to drive infrastructure strategy in a complex hybrid environment., *\tArchitect, implement, and continuously optimize backup solutions across on prem, virtual, and cloud workloads.
*\tLead and execute complex recovery efforts during incidents, outages, security events, and disaster recovery scenarios.
*\tDefine, test, and maintain disaster recovery strategies, runbooks, and recovery time objectives (RTO/RPO).
*\tPerform regular restore testing and audit recovery readiness.
*\tEnsure backup policies align with business continuity, security, and compliance requirements.
*\tEvaluate new backup technologies and lead tool selection and migrations where appropriate.
SCCM / Endpoint Configuration Management
*\tArchitect, administer, and support Microsoft SCCM (Configuration Manager) environments at scale.
*\tLead OS deployments, patching strategies, application packaging, and compliance configuration.
*\tDesign and maintain servicing plans, maintenance windows, and update deployment strategies.
*\tTroubleshoot complex SCCM infrastructure, client, and content distribution issues.
*\tImprove automation, reporting, and reliability of endpoint management processes.
*\tAct as an escalation point for complex SCCM issues.
Storage Engineering & Administration
*\tOwn and administer enterprise storage platforms (SAN/NAS), including performance optimization, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.
*\tLead storage provisioning, migrations, upgrades, and refresh initiatives.
*\tMonitor and analyze storage performance, growth trends, and risk indicators.
*\tTroubleshoot complex storage related performance and availability issues.
*\tPartner with virtualization and application teams to ensure storage solutions meet workload requirements.
*\tDrive standardization and best practices across storage platforms.
Infrastructure Leadership & Engineering
*\tAct as a technical escalation point for infrastructure issues.
*\tMentor and provide guidance to junior and mid level systems engineers.
*\tLead infrastructure projects, upgrades, and strategic initiatives.
*\tCreate and maintain high quality technical documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks.
*\tParticipate in architecture discussions and long term infrastructure planning.
*\tCollaborate with security, network, cloud, and application teams to deliver stable and secure platforms.
Requirements
Storage, Netapp, Vmware, Backup, Cloud, Linux, commvault, Dell, Windows, Disaster recovery, Storage engineering, *\t8-10+ years of experience in enterprise systems engineering or infrastructure operations.
*\tDeep, hands on experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity).
*\tAdvanced experience designing and supporting Microsoft SCCM / MECM environments.
*\tExtensive experience administering enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS).
*\tStrong expertise with Windows Server; solid working knowledge of Linux.
*\tExperience supporting VMware, Nutanix and/or Hyper V environments.
*\tProven ability to lead complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts.
*\tStrong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills., *\tExperience with hybrid and cloud backup architectures (Azure).
*\tDisaster recovery planning, testing, and audit experience.
*\tStorage vendor experience (Dell/Isilon/PowerScale, NetApp, etc.).
*\tPowerShell scripting or infrastructure automation experience.
*\tFamiliarity with ransomware protection strategies and compliance frameworks.
*\tRelevant industry certifications (Microsoft, VMware, storage or backup vendors)., *\tHigh level of ownership and accountability.
*\tRecognized technical authority within the infrastructure team.
*\tAbility to balance operational stability with long term architectural improvements.
*\tCalm, methodical problem solver during high severity incidents.
*\tClear communicator capable of influencing technical and operational decisions.
