Job description

We're seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to help build and maintain the infrastructure that powers our applications and services. You'll work closely with developers and operations teams to improve reliability, and scalability. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, reducing manual work, and continuously improving cloud infrastructure using modern DevOps practices.

About the Team

With eight specialized departments, the engineering team functions as a highly collaborative, diverse powerhouse. Each department mission is to deliver seamless and innovative communication solutions. These range from software development and machine learning to quality assurance teams that work to create and maintain Zoom's user-friendly interfaces and robust infrastructure. The team continues to push the boundaries of communication technology, bringing people together regardless of their physical distance.

Responsibilities

  • Building, maintaining, and supporting AWS-based infrastructure for multiple environments. Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters.

  • Managing infrastructure using Terraform and enforce Infrastructure-as-Code best practices. Write automation scripts and tooling to reduce manual tasks and operational toil.

  • Supporting CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and testing. Monitor system health, performance, and cost efficiency. Participate in occasional incident response and post-mortem reviews.

  • Collaborating with development and QA teams to ensure smooth releases and reliable environments.

  • Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation and lead post-mortem reviews to ensure high system availability.

Requirements

  • Ability to work across the globe or multiple time zones

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of hands-on DevOps or Cloud Engineering experience.

  • Demonstrate background with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, etc.).

  • Display experience with Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting.

  • Have knowledge of Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.

  • Develop in Bash, Python, or Go

  • Understand CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI. Comfortable working in a collaborative, hybrid environment (onsite 2 days per week in San Jose).
