Job description
This position may require 24/7 coverage, which could involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for the shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.
Due to federal restrictions contained in the current National Defense Authorization Act, citizens of the People's Republic of China - including the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau - as well as citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea, and the Russian Federation, who are not Lawful Permanent Residents ("green card" holders) are prohibited from accessing facilities that support the mission, functions, and operations of national security laboratories and nuclear weapons production facilities, which includes Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Requirements
Engineering Technologist 1 ($87,800 - $143,000), * Basic technical knowledge and ability to conduct simple analyses in support of OT assurance activities.
- Experience conducting technical research to gather data needed by engineers in area of discipline.
- Comfort working in a variety of factory environments, including those in hazardous areas.
- Willingness to conduct hands-on work, including manual data gathering and inventory.
- Excitement for working in a novel area of business practice.
- Ability to interact effectively and respectfully with peers within and external to their organization.
Engineering Technologist 2 ($87,800 - $143,000)
In addition to the skills of the Engineering Technologist 1, the Engineering Technologist 2 will be required to possess:
- Good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Experience developing plans and schedules and arranging own activities in accomplishing objectives.
- History of applying a working knowledge of the principles and theories of engineering, mathematics and science to solve routine technical problems in area of discipline.
- Comfort performing computer-related activities, such as preparing input data.
- Experience working on small project teams.
Education/Experience at Level 1: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at Level 2: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience: Exposure to the technical or operational details of product realization processes and operational technology (OT).
- Programming: Knowledge of Python.
- Certification: INCOSE, or similar, certification in Systems Engineering principles.
- Experience: Ability to understand working in a Weapon or High Hazard manufacturing environment and knowledge of production process workflows and outward planning.
- Nature of Work: Some experience within the DOE/NNSA and National Security Enterprise sites and complexes.
- Program Requirements: Knowledge of NNSA SD 452.4-1 or other subversion and vulnerability assessment approaches.
- Clearances: Active Q & SCI clearances or DOD Top Secret clearances., *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
