Data Acquisition SW Engineer

The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as data acquisition software development engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility, (SFOMF) located near Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Applicant will work as part of a research, design, test, and evaluation team, who will develop hardware systems to acquire surface & sub-surface ocean sensor data and fused into a coherent picture for monitoring the underwater ocean environment. Applicant will design, build, and maintain software systems using engineering principles, focusing on high-level architecture, scalability, and performance. As part of the team, the applicant will simultaneously get to work alongside hardware engineers and experts in these fields to help develop complex systems for data acquisition and sensor measurement systems. Applicant is expected to produce technical reports, standard operating procedures and presentations. • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
• 3+ years of experience with data acquisition software development of measurement systems
• Job experience with the Navy or other DoD laboratories is a plus

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and LabVIEW

• Experience with developing data acquisition and control software

• Experience with acquiring analog data from sensors

• Working knowledge of scientific programming and algorithm development

• Experience with oceanographic and/or underwater signatures data is a plus

• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary group environment

• Strong technical writing and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate

• Some minimal travel required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
