Our client, a large and mission-driven membership-based organization, is seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Director to lead and advance an enterprise-wide compliance program. This executive-level role will oversee a growing compliance department and partner closely with senior leadership and the governing board to strengthen regulatory adherence, risk management, and ethical standards across the organization.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in compliance, investigations, or regulatory environments, along with strong leadership capabilities and the ability to foster collaboration in complex, high-visibility environments. This role requires discretion, integrity, and the ability to guide an organization through continued compliance program development and oversight., * Set strategic direction for the organization's compliance program in partnership with senior leadership and the governing board.
- Lead and manage all compliance-related activities across the enterprise.
- Oversee implementation of compliance-related recommendations and program enhancements.
- Identify and assess key risk areas, including corruption, fraud, conflicts of interest, discrimination, and harassment.
- Conduct periodic enterprise risk assessments and adjust compliance strategies accordingly.
- Develop and execute communication and training initiatives related to compliance policies and procedures.
- Monitor updates to federal, state, and local regulations and communicate implications to stakeholders.
- Audit compliance reporting and certification processes to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Create and track metrics related to compliance complaints and resolutions.
- Investigate and remediate compliance concerns.
- Advise senior leadership and the board on emerging compliance risks.
- Coordinate compliance communications with regulatory bodies and oversight entities.
- Foster a culture of ethics, accountability, and transparency across the organization.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a compliance team (currently 3 members, with anticipated growth).
- Travel as needed.
Requirements
- Law degree or other relevant advanced degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in compliance, investigations, regulatory enforcement, or equivalent experience (e.g., prosecutor's office or regulatory agency).
- Experience building or enhancing enterprise-wide compliance programs.
- Experience managing investigations and regulatory communications.
- Demonstrated ability to work with executive leadership and governing boards.
- Leadership experience supervising and mentoring staff.
- Experience navigating complex, high-visibility environments.
- Familiarity with labor organizations or large membership-based organizations is a plus., * Strong strategic leadership and program development capabilities.
