Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems in Syracuse, NY is seeking a full-time Staff Firmware Engineer (FPGA Design) with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Modeling and Simulation experience and knowledge. In this role, you will support design and architecture development, implement FPGA designs and integrate and troubleshoot designs. You will also be involved for the innovation and deployment of algorithms, requirements, and modeling for Electronic Warfare (EW) systems related military and space applications., The successful candidate will have experience with FPGA architecture and design, and troubleshooting., Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 7 years of professional experience; or 5 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.

  • FPGA architecture and design, with applied knowledge of either the Intel, Xilinx or Microchip FPGA devices and their associated application environments.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives, using current technology such as FPGAs, Microprocessors, DSPs, and Interface Controllers.

  • Working knowledge of Digital signal processing, and modeling (MATLAB or Python).

  • Extensive System Verilog/Verilog/VHDL firmware programming capability, and having applied that knowledge on an FPGA device (Intel, Xilinx, Microchip).

Desired skills

  • Leadership and/or Project planning with Earned Value Management (EVM).

  • Knowledge of Agile framework and tools (Jira, Confluence).

  • Ability to weigh design options within a trade space.

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.

  • Possess technical expertise to implement designs without appreciable direction.

  • C/C++

  • Estimation Theory

  • Precision Emitter Location

  • Numerical methods

  • Matlab Coder

  • Advanced VHDL coding expertise

  • Advanced experience with AMD / Xilinx platforms and architectures

  • Having utilized Intel Quartus, Xilinx Vivado, or Microchip Libero development platforms to successfully build and test an executable hardware implementation of code which they have written.

  • Use of the Mentor Questa HDL simulator, including UVM verification techniques.
