Job description
The GIS Technician - Contract Mapping Support plays a critical role in fulfilling a specific client contract by providing accurate, timely, and professional GIS mapping updates. This position supports Utilitra's engineering and customer-facing teams by maintaining, updating, and delivering geospatial data products that align with client requirements, industry standards, and contractual obligations. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of working independently while collaborating closely with internal teams. Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have direct reports but may involve leading specific project tasks and mentoring junior technicians in GIS techniques., * Provide GIS mapping updates and data maintenance to support a specific customer contract.

Assist in creating, editing, and maintaining geospatial datasets, maps, and related documentation using GIS software.

Input and update field data, as-builts, survey information, and engineering inputs into GIS systems with a high level of accuracy.

Perform quality control checks to ensure spatial data integrity and compliance with customer and company standards.

Maintain organized electronic filing systems for GIS data, maps, and contract deliverables.

Coordinate with internal staff and customer representatives to clarify data requirements and resolve discrepancies.

Manage daily administrative tasks related to contract administration to support project continuity and compliance.

Attend project meetings to provide updates on project-related tasks.

Requirements
- Associate degree from a technical school in GIS, CAD, drafting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in utilities may be considered.
- Demonstrated GIS Software proficiency (ArcFM, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap or QGIS)
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other CAD software is a plus but not required.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Previous experience in a contract-related project or work environment is beneficial.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and quality work.
- Ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently.
- Comfortable working outdoors as required by project needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of sitting for extended periods while working on the computer.
- Able to handle physical documents, plans, and site visits, which may involve walking and standing.
Benefits & conditions
Compensation: $26.00-27.00 This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends on applicants credentials. At Utilitra, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, and credentials, when determining the base salary offered.
