Job description
build, support, administer, and sustain a clustered-server database platform hosted in an enterprise IT environment. The Database Administrator will provide technical support for incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions. Investigate hardware and software problems related to the database-hosting infrastructure and perform corrective actions.
Requirements
- Must have an active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility \n
- Possesses a B.S. in a related field and 10+ years of database administration experience including experience with Oracle databases. \n
- ITIL v4 Certification \n
- Oracle Database Administration (12c-21c): Installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting. \n
- A strong understanding of data and databases, Python, the ability to translate customer requirements, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders \n
- Strong oral and written communication skills. \n

- Architects, designs, engineers, and document Oracle databases and associated infrastructure in clustered, stand-alone, and/or appliance-hosted configurations, which fulfill mission requirements, service specifications, and cyber security mandates \n
- Investigates hardware and software problems related to the database-hosting infrastructure and perform corrective actions \n
- Implements robust backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies \n
- Monitors, fine-tune, and optimize database performance for minimal downtime and maximum efficiency \n
- Establishes and enforces stringent database security protocols and access controls \n
- Collaborate closely with application development teams to design and optimize Oracle databases. \n
- Oracle RAC: Grid Infrastructure/ASM administration, installation, patching, configuration, and troubleshooting \n
- Develops, executes and oversees data migration initiatives when required \n
- Performance Tuning: AWR, ASH, statspack analysis, SQL tuning, optimizer statistics, and execution plan analysis \n
- Data replication and migration: Oracle GoldenGate, Data Pump (expdp/impdp), and Data Guard \n
- Spearheads scalability and high availability efforts for Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, and other cloud-based databases while managing cloud resources and optimizing cost-effectiveness \n
- Maintains comprehensive documentation detailing database configurations, procedures, and best practices \n
- Regularly generates performance and usage reports to support informed decision-making \n
- Drives problem resolution and root cause analysis across the technology stack \n
- Participates in the resolution of database availability, capacity, and performance issues. \n
- Participates in infrastructure and organizational initiatives across multiple IT disciplines. \n
- Sustains fleet of physical and virtual database-hosting servers running a mix of operating systems (Open Systems and Windows Systems) in multiple network environments \n
- Performs daily operations, onsite support, and on-call support for all aspects of database architecture, database platforms, and database management software \n
- Works with original equipment manufacturers and/or third-party vendors to resolve performance degradations and outages \n
- Supports and participates in projects relating to the move of systems and services to modernized hosting environments and Cloud capabilities \n
- Provides expert advice on configuring database systems to meet the environment and boundary requirements and customize services to meet new performance goals. \n
- Works with original equipment manufacturers and/or third-party vendors to resolve performance degradations and outages. \n
- Supports and participates in projects relating to the move of systems and services to modernized hosting environments and Cloud capabilities \n
- Provides expert advice on configuring database systems to meet the environment and boundary requirements and customize services to meet new performance goals.\n, * RMAN: Backup and recovery and recovery catalog management. \n
- Automation & scripting: Shell (Bash), Ansible, and/or Perl. \n
- Oracle Data Guard: Physical/logical standby implementation and failover/failback procedures. \n
- Monitoring: Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) management, patching, and configuration. \n
- Security & Compliance: TDE, auditing, and STIGs. \n
- Oracle Apex: Installation, configuration, patching, and security. \n
- ORDS: Installation, configuration, and patching. \n
- OS: Linux navigation, vi, awk, sed, sudo/ksu, cron, top, sar, and parameter configurations for Oracle implementations.\n
