Job description
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe System Controller / Batch Operator to support critical mainframe operations within a banking environment. This role involves working in a 24x7 command center setup, ensuring stability, reliability, and smooth execution of batch processes and system operations., * Perform day-to-day mainframe operations support including batch monitoring, system checks, and job execution
- Monitor and manage batch jobs and scheduling tools such as OPC and Control-M
- Act as the first point of contact for production incidents, performing initial triage and resolution
- Support systems including z/OS, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and IBM MQ
- Handle requests from application teams, L2 support, and batch processing teams
- Ensure smooth coordination with development, infrastructure, and security teams
- Maintain clear documentation of operational procedures and processes
- Provide L1 support for batch, system, and online operations
- Follow standard operating procedures and ensure adherence to service levels
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mainframe technologies, production support, and batch operations, with the ability to handle incidents and collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment., * 8-10 years of experience in mainframe operations within banking or financial services
- Strong knowledge of z/OS, JCL, TSO, ISPF, and mainframe utilities
- Hands-on experience with CICS, DB2, VSAM, IBM MQ, and basic SQL
- Experience with batch scheduling tools such as OPC and Control-M
- Familiarity with ServiceNow and Agile methodologies
- Good understanding of banking systems and IT operations
- Fluent in English; German is an advantage
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience in batch optimization and performance improvement
- Exposure to automation initiatives in operations
- Experience defining and managing SLAs and KPIs
- Experience in continuous service improvement initiatives
- Agile or Scrum certifications
- Prior team handling or coordination experience
