Job description
The JAQ Group is looking for an E-commerce Operations Engineer to bridge the gap between our high-growth digital storefronts and our physical business operations.
While we have remote development resources, we need a technical "anchor" on-site. You will be responsible for the health of our digital ecosystem and the hardware that powers our day-to-day. This is a role for a versatile technologist who enjoys a mix of coding, system integration, and hands-on hardware troubleshooting., * E-commerce Development: Perform front-end updates and theme customizations. While we use Shopify (Liquid), we value general web proficiency and the ability to work within templating languages to build clean, functional UI.
- SaaS & Integration Management: Maintain the "connective tissue" of our brands, including shipping platforms (e.g., Starshipit), inventory systems, and third-party API integrations.
- Operational Tech Support: Serve as the first line of defence for on-site technical issues, including Wi-Fi connectivity, office hardware, and software troubleshooting.
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Ensure warehouse and office peripherals (thermal label printers, scanners, POS systems) are operational and correctly synced with our cloud platforms.
- Systems Reliability: Proactively monitor the technical infrastructure of our office and warehouse to ensure zero downtime for fulfilment and customer service teams.
Technical Profile
- Web Fundamentals: Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Templating Engines: Experience with at least one logic-based templating language (e.g., Liquid, Twig, Blade, Jinja, Handlebars, or Smarty). We are happy to cross-train a developer who understands the core concepts of data-to-template rendering.
- Systems Generalist: A "builder" mindset-you understand how a network functions and aren't afraid to troubleshoot hardware like routers, printers, and scanners.
- Integration Savvy: An understanding of how data flows between an e-commerce store and a shipping or warehouse platform., * Ensure that you treat those with whom they come into contact in a courteous and respectful manner in accordance with the Dignity at Work Procedure.
- You are required to adhere to and promote the Equal Opportunities Policy throughout the course of your employment.
- You must maintain high standards of personal accountability.
- You must co-operate with others on health and safety policies and procedures.
- You must comply with the no smoking policy.
The JAQ Group is committed to equality of opportunity and to selection on merit. Applicants will be subject to AccessNI checks.
Requirements
- Resourceful: You are a natural troubleshooter who finds a way to fix things, whether it's a broken checkout script or a jammed warehouse printer.
- Language Agnostic: You aren't married to one specific framework; you enjoy learning the best tool for the job at hand.
- Pragmatic: You understand that in a fast-paced DTC environment, keeping the "engine" running is just as important as writing perfect code., * A-Level or equivalent (required), * Front-end development: 2 years (required)
- On-site Technical troubleshooting: 2 years (required)
