Job description
This is a high-impact, hands-on role to own and evolve our backend architecture for 10x scale. You will report to the Head of Software and be responsible for re-architecting critical legacy systems and building new microservices to power our international growth and new product lines., * Design, build, and maintain new scalable RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices for products like dynamic pricing and "workforce on demand."
- Own features from design to deployment (TDD, CI/CD) in our GCP/Kubernetes environment.
- Optimize and scale our data layer, including PostgreSQL databases and Redis caches.
- Champion engineering excellence and mentor other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
Requirements
- 3-6+ years of backend engineering, with experience shipping and scaling complex systems.
- Deep expertise in Python and frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, or FastAPI).
- Proven ability to design and scale RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
- Strong skills with PostgreSQL and Redis.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD.
- A proactive, "take ownership" mindset.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience in MaaS, logistics, or IoT.
- Experience breaking down a monolith into microservices.
- Knowledge of IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, TCP/IP).
