Job description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Network Operations Center (NOC) Lead based in Charlotte, NC. The NOC Lead will be responsible for identifying and resolving network disruptions, communicating with stakeholders, and analyzing network performance trends to support continuous improvement initiatives. This role will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Implementation, and Operations teams to ensure alignment between network performance and technical solutions. Your technical expertise and proactive approach will contribute to maintaining a fast, stable, and scalable network environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical response for emergency network incidents, coordinating with technicians, engineers, and vendors to resolve issues efficiently
- Serve as the escalation point for complex subscriber or node-level outages (T1/T2 support)
- Plan, coordinate, and execute complex network changes during low-traffic maintenance windows
- Maintain and standardize network documentation, including port maps, fiber paths, and SOPs
- Perform routine patching and OS upgrades to enhance system stability and security
- Utilize telemetry and NMS data to troubleshoot intermittent issues such as latency and network instability across PON environments
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience working with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technologies (GPON, XGS-PON)
- 2+ years of experience using NMS/EMS tools for provisioning, monitoring, and ticketing systems
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in Engineering, IT, or a related field
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (VLAN tagging/Q-in-Q, SIP/VoIP, DHCP)
- Industry certifications (Nokia, Calix, Adtran, Juniper, etc.)
- Exposure to Metro Ethernet and transport networks
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess trends and drive data-informed decisions
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced network operations environment
