Job description

The Systems Engineer I is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of system hardware and software in a mixed Linux and Microsoft environment. This role plays a key part in supporting infrastructure operations and ensuring smooth transitions from development to production environments., * Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based servers and system infrastructure

  • Provision hardware, storage, and system services based on project and operational needs
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security through regular checks and logs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Support internal teams by addressing technical concerns and operational challenges
  • Perform system upgrades, performance tuning, and resource optimization
  • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures
  • Automate routine system administration tasks where possible
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support as needed

Requirements

  • Strong Linux system administration experience
  • Experience with hardware setup, configuration, and debugging
  • Proficiency in Python programming (scripting and basic application updates)
  • Solid understanding of system monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Python experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Experience working in mixed Linux/Windows environments
  • Familiarity with automation and system optimization techniques, * Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, IT)
  • 2-3 years of system administration experience (Linux and Windows)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex OS and network connectivity issues
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends to support global teams
  • Comfortable working fully onsite in San Jose, CA
