Responsibilities: What you'll be able to do: Feature Systems Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the anticipated worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the anticipated worksite. Lead the development of features at the systems engineering level from concept feature development to production and manage feature upgrade and migration plan. Define requirements, design architecture, implement code, and conduct thorough testing. Evaluate potential design options to make appropriate proposals considering feature requirements, available technology, efficiency, and platform capabilities. Conduct feasibility studies, prototype solutions, and analyze performance metrics. Model the system from the data abstraction layer, simplifying complex systems by breaking them down into smaller, more manageable parts. Use modeling tools and techniques to represent the system's behavior and facilitate communication and collaboration among team members. Allocate features and functions across electronic modules and subsystems to meet cost, quality and feature performance targets. Develop feature specifications, feature Failure Mode Avoidance documentation, and feature verification plans. Own and craft DFMEA's through the standard development process. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements, use cases, user experience, performance measures, and system interfaces between key components and translate them into tangible technical specifications, and drive feature development. Review existing system designs to find new opportunities for cost or quality improvement. Interact with program teams, core engineers and functional areas to create balanced solutions to competing requirements. Undertake functional/non-functional requirements gathering and champion Technical Design Reviews, soliciting feedback from all partners, and ensuring agreement from Privacy/Legal, Security, Safety (if required). Apply test-driven-development mindset in progressing a system concept to implementation through various stages (from requirements through launch). Automate testing procedures and build comprehensive test suites to ensure the quality and reliability of features systems. Design test cases, develop automated test scripts, and analyze test results to identify and resolve issues. Develop and author product-specific requirements, evaluating quality and assisting with issue triage, as necessary, to determine root cause. Requirements

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 4 years of experience with the following skill is required: 1. Performing systems analysis and designing systems, subsystems, or components defining requirements. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Investigating and resolving feature-specific issues during product development and launch or analyzing system failure points and evaluating solution proposals including conducting high level FMAs and FMEAs. 2. Interfacing cloud-to-vehicle modem communications; or applying network communication protocols, transport protocols, and payload optimization techniques. 3. Utilizing automotive communication protocols including CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and Ethernet. 4. Defining systems/feature requirements at the concept level to technology level and test cases, implementing code, and conducting thorough testing. 5. Collaborating with cross-functional teams (including software and hardware engineers, data scientists, and product managers) to gather business requirements, use cases, user experience, performance measures, and system interfaces between key components and translate them into tangible technical specifications, and drive feature development. 6. Soliciting feedback from all partners and ensure agreement including Privacy/Legal, Cyber Security, cloud and vehicle components, mobile device apps, in addition to functional and non-functional requirements. 1 year of experience with the following skill is required: 1. Programming using SQL, JAVA, C, C++ or Python, along with MATLAB, Simulink, or SysML (MagicDraw).
