Job description

Quickly yet thoroughly create process flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors for complex, data-dense interfaces, including real-time dashboards, alert management views, and operator control panels.

Plan and conduct user interviews with operational facility operators, controls engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, surface pain points, and synthesize findings into personas, journey maps, and task flows.

Partner with UX designers across various organizations to build a consolidated, consistent visualization platform, contributing to shared design systems, component libraries, and UX standards.

Present design work to the UX team, product and engineering partners, and senior stakeholders for review and feedback.

Collaborate directly with front-end and controls engineers to ensure design integrity through implementation, including design QA during development sprints.

Provide leadership in the area of industrial UX, operational interface design, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) best practices.
Requirements
-
5+ years of industry experience providing interaction design solutions for web, software, or operational applications.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.

Fluency in best practices for information architecture and design, with strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.

Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar.

A strong online portfolio demonstrating past work experience and relevant, user-centered design solutions across desktop and mobile is required.

Experience designing for industrial, operational, or SCADA/HMI systems strongly desired
Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills, including the ability to communicate complex interaction design concepts clearly across technical and non-technical audiences at varying levels of the organization.

Self-starter who is customer-obsessed, detail-oriented, and an enthusiastic team player.

Ability to work with highly technical engineering teams and manage multiple workstreams in an agile, fast-paced environment.

Ability to prototype in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, or Axure highly desired.
