Job description

At Independent Software, as a Network Engineer Level 3, you will design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across complex environments using Cisco and Arista technologies. In this role, you will help optimize network performance, support secure communications, and ensure compliance with SSP and STE/STN requirements while working alongside engineering teams to maintain reliable, scalable network operations.

This role offers hands-on work with modern networking technologies, performance optimization, and infrastructure modernization initiatives. Some travel may be required, and participation in on-call operational support is expected., * Configure, deploy, and sustain Cisco and Arista network infrastructure

  • Support LAN, CAN, and WAN environments including performance optimization and troubleshooting
  • Apply SSP compliance and STE/STN security requirements to network devices
  • Design and implement network solutions including VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, VoIP, NAT, IPSec, and GRE tunneling
  • Monitor network performance, minimize latency, and optimize data throughput
  • Support network upgrades, cutovers, and infrastructure modernization efforts
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and accreditation requirements
  • Collaborate with system engineers, users, and operations teams to resolve network issues
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and support operational continuity

Requirements

  • Significant experience with Cisco and Arista configuration, deployment, and sustainment
  • Experience supporting enterprise LAN, CAN, and WAN networking environments
  • Familiarity with LatteArt and applying SSP, STE, and STN compliance requirements to network devices
  • Strong understanding of network security, routing, switching, and performance optimization
  • Experience with network protocols and technologies including VPNs, VoIP, IPSec, NAT, GRE tunneling, and traffic shaping
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network and infrastructure issues in mission-critical environments
  • Willingness to travel as needed and participate in on-call operational support
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and technical documentation skills, * Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) years of relevant professional experience providing Network Engineering support; OR
  • A Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and twelve (12) years of relevant professional Network Engineering experience; OR
  • Sixteen (16) years of relevant professional Network Engineering experience in lieu of a degree, along with an industry-recognized certification such as Arista Configuration Essentials, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or a Juniper Certification Track (Automation & DevOps, Cloud, Data Center, Design, Enterprise Routing and Switching, Junos Security, or Service Provider Routing and Switching).

Certifications:

  • DoD Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III baseline certification required in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
