Job description

Leidos is seeking an experienced System Administror to support autonomous maritime projects' hardware stacks by managing and maintaining Linux-based systems in an on-premises system integrion lab (SIL) in Arlington, VA. The System Administror will be joining an existing team which has already successfully delivered for our customers and plan to continue their repution of excellence. The System Administror will focus on system configurion, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring the security and integrity of Linux servers and workstions with little supervision. The team's focus is on software and supporting hardware, including integrion with hardware and sensors on multiple vessels. The system administror will work closely with cross-functional teams to support system deployments, software updes, and operional readiness, ensuring th all systems meet security, performance, and availability requirements.

This position is on-site in support of the system integrion lab (SIL) in Arlington, VA. After hours support may be required to keep the lab functioning (if needed).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of our servers, networks, and system integrion laborories.
  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Manage system pches, upgrades, and security hardening in compliance with DoD policies.
  • Provide support for system backups, disaster recovery, and da integrity.
  • Configure and maintain network services including routing, firewalls, DNS, and VLANS.
  • Assist in managing system access, user accounts, and security configurions.
  • Collabore with teams to support software deployments and integrion.
  • Cree and maintain documention pertaining to system opering procedures.
  • Participe in incident response and resolve issues reled to system performance, security, and availability.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience in being a System Administror (or experience in a similar field)
  • Bachelor's degree in fields like Computer Science, Informion Technology, Network Engineering, etc.
  • Experience with system security, pch management, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Experience with configurion management tools (e.g., Ansible).
  • Familiarity with virtualizion technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, VMware, KVM).
  • Ability to set up new servers as needed and support hardware upgrades.
  • Ability to apply user requirements to the analysis, planning, and design of technology systems.
  • Ability to communice problems and solutions both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with speed and efficiency.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualificions

Familiarity with one or more disciplines:

  • Linux certificions (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
  • Experience with RHEL 8/9/10.
  • Knowledge of Dell Servers
