Job description

Network Design and Implementation

  • Prepare order instructions for WAN circuits, equipment and services as defined by the customer

  • Configure WAN/LAN (hardware, software)

  • Document network diagrams, infrastructure, IP addressing schemes, routing, security policies, and load-sharing

  • Experience with designing and implementing Cisco SD-WAN solutions

  • Develop and document network provisioning requirements and policies

  • Provide capacity planning assistance to develop network resource requirements projections

  • Support core Internet protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, QoS, etc)

  • Experience with Cisco Nexus 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K. Knowledge of ACI is highly preferred

  • Install and configure Cisco 4400, 8300, 8500 series routers

  • LAN engineering, optimization, implementation and operational support

  • Responsible for IP address management of the currently allocated subnets as well as evolution to the new addressing policy for the enterprise architecture

  • Heavy O&M support and trouble-shooting of any network related issues covering the entire enterprise (LAN/WAN/Data Center, Internet/TIC, etc)

  • Support QoS, multicast, and content delivery

Network Monitoring

  • Develop and document requirements and policies for network monitoring and problem management

  • Provide guidance for network operation implementation and support process and procedures

  • Provide support as tier 3 escalation

  • Identify processes network problems and resolve in accordance incident and problem management services, polices, procedures

  • Coordinate resolution of circuit problems with third parties, including public carriers, ISP and external vendors

Requirements

  • Bachelor's with 12+ years of network designing exprience (or commensurate experience)

  • 8+ years of network architecture experience (or commensurate experience)

  • 7+ years of enterprise networking experience with 5+ years in an architecture role

  • Advanced and deep expertise in network design, management, and troubleshooting

  • Will be required to late night maintenance windows two times a month

  • Required technical expertise includes extensive experience with:

  • Enterprise routing and switching architectures

  • Secure network perimeter and remote access solutions

  • Cisco enterprise networking and WAN technologies

  • SD-WAN and cloud connectivity architectures

  • Network security and visibility platforms, including Cisco, Zscaler, Gigamon, McAfee, F5, and comparable enterprise solutions

  • CCIE certification required

  • Clearance Required: Ability to maintain a Public Trust clearance

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
