Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Forward Deployed Engineer - AI - this is an onsite role in NYC. Salary range: 180-250K USD yearly plus benefits and equity. We're funded by Village Global, Forward Deployed VC, Amjad Masad (CEO of Replit), and previous employees at OpenAI, Retool, Palantir, Scale AI, the US Navy, Nestle, and William Blair As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you'll be at the intersection of cutting-edge AI technology and real-world enterprise challenges. You'll work directly with our clients to implement our technology (Athena and Olympus), by engineering at the edge - our core engineering philosophy. You'll gain unique insights into important industries and institutions while contributing to our core products. We believe in engineering at the edge, where Forward Deployed Engineers build the first version of any product in close collaboration with a single customer. This approach allows us to rapidly iterate and validate our solutions in real-world environments, providing crucial insights that shape our product development. As adoption grows, we integrate this into our core product and deploy it across our fleet, making the FDE role the cornerstone of our product strategy and the primary source of actionable intelligence for our product team. Core Responsibilities Collaborate closely with clients to understand their unique challenges and operational environments Design and implement solutions using Olympus and Athena to address client needs Integrate our AI technologies into existing enterprise systems and workflows Develop and maintain client relationships, acting as a technical liaison between Athena Intelligence and our partners Contribute to the continuous improvement of our core products based on field experiences and client feedback Lead training sessions and provide ongoing support to ensure successful adoption of our technologies, 20+ enterprise clients including Lowe's, KPMG, Anheuser-Busch, and Kraft Heinz - Athena is already embedded as the backbone of core business operations at major Fortune 500s and winning contracts from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Palantir roughly once a month. $8M raised at seed stage with backing from Village Global, Amjad Masad (CEO of Replit), and operators from OpenAI, Retool, Palantir, Scale AI, and the US Navy. $180K-$250K base + competitive equity - senior-leaning comp for a role that's genuinely technical and high-ownership from day one. Private cloud deployments are the majority of the business - Athena deploys directly into client environments which almost no competitor does. That's a real technical moat and a huge differentiator for engineers who want to work on hard problems. 13-person team building almost everything in-house - this is a tight-knit in-person NYC crew where every engineer has massive surface area and direct impact on the product roadmap.

3-5 years in a hands- on engineering or technical deployment role (e. g. , forward deployed engineer, solutions engineer, startup engineer, technical consultant) - must have shipped real code in production, not just advised (Mandatory) Experience working directly with enterprise clients (engineering, IT, or data teams at large orgs like Fortune 500s) - ideally in a deployment, implementation, or embedded capacity (Mandatory) Background at a high- output technical company or startup (e. g. , Scale AI, Retool, Palantir, Databricks, Samsara, or similar) (Nice-to-have) Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline (CS, mechanical, chemical, industrial, etc. ) (Mandatory) Consistent GitHub activity: 1, 500+ commits/year across personal and work repos (Mandatory) Proficient in at least one of: Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript - language matters less than demonstrated coding ability across the stack (Nice-to-have) Experience building or deploying AI/ML tools, agents, or data pipelines in enterprise environments (Nice-to-have) Willing and genuinely motivated to be client- facing (Mandatory) Comfortable with up to 50% travel (domestic and international client on- sites) (Mandatory)
