The Resident Consultant role is a highly technical role, providing post-sales support for network products for our customer. The Resident Consultant will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed or to be deployed within the customer's network. The Resident Consultant provides support on network design, certification activities and implementation plans.
This is an on-site Resident Consultant role based out of Mt. Laurel, NJ with travel into customer office.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support design and planning of Juniper MX, PTX and QFX network routing products and associated solutions within the Customer infrastructure
- Carry out testing of new Designs, features, and functionality as required by the Customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network
- Perform Junos software release lab testing and validation at the customers lab
- Test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test network and then live network as implementation plans dictate.
- Hold design and information gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer's existing network design and technical requirements of new network designs.
- To train the customer's design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate the HPE Juniper Networks products.
- To produce a written summary report on the status of design projects, equipment, and network problems regularly to the customer.
- Developing network operating procedures, configuration standards, and implementation plans for HPE Juniper products.
- Troubleshoot equipment and network problems, and open and track JTAC cases through to problem resolution on pre- and post-production issues.
- To understand the Customer's organizational structure and become familiar with the Customer's network implementation and support processes and procedures to help in supporting a network that is available and sustainable.
- To hold technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried.
- To assist the customer in developing Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures.
- Development and maintenance of fault diagnosis procedures to support effective fault resolution.
- Support the production environment of HPE Juniper products within the customer infrastructure.
- Support ongoing efforts in defining best-practice policies for HPE Juniper product applications used by the customer. (HPE Juniper Business Use Only.)
- The RC will be expected to be a subject matter expert on HPE Juniper's platforms, software and features and coordinate directly with HPE Juniper on any challenges encountered with new software or features implementation.
- The RC is expected to peer with other employees performing similar resident Consultant roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.
- The RC will be expected to develop secondary skills in other products in the HPE Juniper product portfolio.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of design, implementation, and operational experience in large-scale IP networks.
- JUNOS CLI experience.
- Must have large-scale experience with routing devices MX, PTX, and ACX.
- An understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks. These skills include but are not limited to:
- TCP/IP and MPLS fundamentals
- IP/Routing experience (OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, Routing Policy)
- Routing protocol operation, migration, and scaling mechanisms
- Routing policies at BGP peering points
- VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (MPLS, L3VPN, VPLS, MVPN.)
- Ethernet switching and 802.1Q, QoS
- Class of service
- Background in automation with Ansible, YAML, and HPE Juniper PyEZ.
- Experience writing automation scripts in Python.
- Ability to communicate effectively in crises with all levels of an organization from Consultant/Operations to CIO/CISO audiences.
- Ability to refine and translate complex requirements and execute best practice solutions.
- Assisted with major network upgrades, maintenance windows, and changes in the customer network.
- Strong customer interface and presentation skills.
- Other tasks and duties as needed to support the customer and/or business.
- Expert-level technical certifications (JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, and CCIE) are a strong plus.

- United States of America: Annual Salary USD 119,500 - 275,000 in New Jersey The listed salary range reflects base salary. Variable incentives may also be offered."
