Job description
The Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Software Architect will work as a member of the Army Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) FIRES Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) within the Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Mission Command (MC) Product Office Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Product Cell (FPC).
The FPC Architect is a key team member, responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of adapted components, emerging capabilities, and modernized architecture with commonality and synchronicity of all IBCS configurations and baselines. The FPC Architect is responsible for the design of software applications and interfaces to enable the integration and test of foreign adapted components.
Responsibilities
Interface Development for IBCS and External Components: Ensure that IBCS and the external components develop software and hardware solutions compliant with technical and interface requirements in support of critical FMS milestone events. Generate Feature/Capability Descriptions for IBCS Integration: Creation, refinement, and assessment of system engineering efforts for adapted component integration, architectural maturation, emerging capabilities, and system improvements within the IBCS work management system (Jira/Confluence). Leadership Briefings and Milestone Tracking: Regularly brief AMD MC leadership and IFMC Business Owners on the status of all integration and design efforts, highlighting key milestones, risks, and timelines for the required software/hardware interfaces, ensuring the readiness of all components for critical program milestones. Supplier Development and Defect Management: Coordinate with IFMC Component Managers and IBCS Supplier Managers to ensure alignment of interfacing systems and version control for successful integration, test, and delivery of IBCS software. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering) to ensure smooth and successful component and capability integration into the IBCS in alignment with all interfacing components and applications to meet all FMS requirements.
Requirements
- Have a minimum of 7 years combined Government/DoD experience in performing the essential duties listed above
- Be a US citizen
- Have experience with real-time systems and diverse software development
- Have experience with prototyping and integrating new software interfaces
- Have experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Be capable of leading problem identification and resolution for both system design and integration
- Be capable of investigating and presenting technical solutions to improve performance
- Be capable of assessing customer and user needs following agile principles
- Be capable of identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement of existing solutions
- Be capable of breaking down complex ideas into easy-to-understand tasks
- Be capable of coordinating needs and priorities with Product and Solution Management
- Active Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain it throughout employment, * Knowledge in IBCS, PATRIOT, MEADS, THAAD, C2BMC, AEGIS, and/or other Army weapons / sensors
- Proficiency in Atlassian Products (e.g. JIRA/ Confluence)
- Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and agile methodologies
- Prior Software Architectural/Engineering leadership experience
