Job description
- Perform non-linear structural analyses (stress/dynamics) for reentry vehicles
- Produce and maintain models generated from both in-house and commercially available software codes, that simulate hostile encounter events, penetration mechanics, and impact physics
- Prepare test plans, post-process test data, and compile test reports. You will be an important part of our product development team, where effective communication is critical
- Have the ability to work on a multi-disciplined team performing structural design trades, preliminary and detailed design/analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems
- Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews
- Provide review, interpretation, flow down, and implementation of program requirements, and plan tasks and review budget and schedule to reduce cost and cycle time.
Requirements
- Experience with Structural Finite Element Modeling/Analysis (FEM/FEA)
- Experience with Implicit/Explicit finite element modeling like Abaqus, LS-Dyna, NASTRAN 601/701/etc. or equivalent
- Experience performing analysis efforts in support of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activity
- Understanding of structural analysis through education or equivalent experience
- Ability to apply new and advanced analytical techniques necessary to perform analysis
- Active secret clearance; must be able to obtain a top secret clearance; must be a US Citizen
- A related Master's degree is strongly preferred for this position
- Experience with multi-physics or shock dynamics modeling with tools like Abaqus Explicit, LS-Dyna, CTH, etc.
- Experience designing verification and validation tests and correlating models post test
- Experience with x-ray deposition, material vulnerability, and other hostile encounter environments
- Experiencing working to requirements, interfacing with customers, and presenting technical analysis
- Experience with structural analysis for re-entry vehicles
- Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment
- Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently
- Active Top Secret Clearance
