Job description
We are hiring Entry-Level Data Center Technicians to support critical infrastructure in a large, enterprise-scale cloud data center environment. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build a long-term career in IT infrastructure, data centers, or cloud operations.
As a Data Center Technician, you will serve as a primary technical resolver for hardware-related issues, supporting servers, cabling, and physical infrastructure. You'll work both independently and as part of a team, providing hands-on support to ensure high availability and operational excellence.

What You'll Be Doing

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and infrastructure issues in a data center environment

Perform server diagnostics, component replacements, and basic break-fix repairs

Support cabling and connectivity, including fiber and copper patching

Assist with installation, decommissioning, and maintenance of servers and related equipment

Create and maintain clear technical documentation and runbooks

Follow established SOPs, safety standards, and security requirements

Act as an escalation point for basic issues once trained, while supporting junior peers when needed

Execute small technical tasks or projects independently

Partner with team leads and managers on larger operational initiatives

Participate in virtual collaboration and, where applicable, assist with remote system administration tasks, This role supports 24/7 operations. For the duration of the contract, candidates must be flexible to one of the following schedules
Requirements
Skills & Competencies (Training-Friendly, Growth-Oriented)
Hardware Fundamentals
- Basic understanding of servers, components, and diagnostics tools
Networking Basics
- Intro-level knowledge of TCP/IP, cabling standards, patching, and link testing
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Ability to identify issues, follow logical steps, and drive resolution
Operational Excellence
- Interest in learning ITIL concepts, ticketing systems, SOPs, and change management
Physical Infrastructure
- Exposure to racks, PDUs, UPS systems, cabling, airflow, and cooling concepts
Security & Compliance Awareness
- Willingness to strictly follow access control, security policies, and audit requirements
Tools & Equipment
- Familiarity (or willingness to learn) use of KVMs, crash carts, cable testers, and diagnostic tools

Benefits & conditions
This is a Contract position based out of Hermiston, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
