Job description
We're hiring our first Data Engineer to own high-trust data pipelines and analytics models across our stack.
This role sits at the intersection of every part of the business. You'll build reliable integrations, well-modeled datasets, and strong QA and monitoring, partnering closely with engineering, product, marketing, and sales to drive outcomes through data activation.
This is a remote position based in Romania. We have a physical office in Bucharest that you're welcome to use, but it's not required. You'll work closely with our CTO and Romania-based engineering team.
You'll be our first dedicated analytics engineering hire, with the opportunity to shape the foundation of how data is collected, modeled, and activated across the business.
What You'll Do
- Own our CDP, Segment, including sources, destinations, event taxonomy, documentation, and features like Unify and Protocols
- Own the data foundations behind product analytics in Mixpanel, including sourcing, taxonomy, and data quality
- Partner with engineering, product, marketing, and sales to define requirements for downstream use cases and build reliable connections into tools like Customer.io, Salesforce, and Mixpanel
- Apply data governance, QA, and monitoring practices to ensure data is reliable and usable across teams
- Replace manual integrations and fragile workflows, including Zapier-based processes, with scalable and maintainable pipelines
- Build and maintain analytics-ready data models, primarily in dbt, for core business entities and downstream reporting and activation needs, * Bootstrapped and profitable, with the stability to invest in long-term systems and the speed to move quickly
- First data hire, with the opportunity to define architecture and set the standard
- Unique data surface area across e-commerce, enterprise SaaS, and mobile app
- Work closely with our CTO and in a high-trust, fast-moving environment
Requirements
- Experience working with event and product analytics tooling, including end-to-end ownership of data pipelines
- Experience with customer data infrastructure and analytics workflows. Segment experience is a strong plus
- Comfort operating in messy integration environments with imperfect source systems, missing identifiers, inconsistent history, and evolving APIs
- Strong SQL skills and experience building production-grade data models
- Ability to write clear requirements and tickets, then execute independently while coordinating across teams
- Clear, proactive communication, especially in a remote-first team spanning multiple time zones
