System Administrator (Entry-Level)

Derksen Buildings is seeking a motivated Entry-Level System Administrator / IT Support Specialist to join our in-office team in Mayfield, KY. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to build hands-on experience across IT support, infrastructure, and modern platforms, including cloud services, Salesforce, and product configuration systems.

You'll play a key role in supporting daily IT operations, assisting users, and helping maintain reliable and secure systems across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, hardware, and related equipment
• Provide day-to-day technical support to internal users and, when needed, external partners
• Monitor system performance, uptime, and security to ensure smooth operations
• Assist with data backup procedures and disaster recovery processes
• Track and manage hardware and software inventory
• Troubleshoot technical issues using a ticketing/help desk system
• Maintain clear documentation of systems, processes, and issue resolutions

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• 1-3+ years of experience in IT support, Help Desk, or hardware troubleshooting
• Basic understanding of Linux operating systems
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, DNS)
• Familiarity with web technologies such as Apache, PHP, and MySQL is a plus
• Interest in or exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, SaaS applications, Salesforce)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cPanel, WHM, or web hosting environments
• Understanding of DNS configuration and management
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or similar, * Associate (Preferred)
