Job description

There is one position available at the V C Summer Nuclear Power Station that will be filled at either the Software Engineer or Sr. Software Engineer level, commensurate with the selected candidates' skills and abilities.

Specific Duties May Involve:

  • Troubleshooting, testing, maintenance and repair of servers, workstations, and peripheral equipment associated with the Integrated Plant Computer System (IPCS).

  • Hardware support and maintenance for data acquisition systems.

  • Support and maintenance for the IPCS data diode system

  • Support and maintenance for the plant historian system

  • Scheduling and coordination of computer system repairs and maintenance with Engineering and Operations.

  • Maintaining accurate records of testing, calibration, and maintenance as required.

  • Performing software maintenance such as database modifications, system configuration, trending, and system monitoring.

  • Implementation and testing plant design changes to the IPCS

Requirements

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity., Software Engineer: 3+ years directly related experience.

Senior Software Engineer: 5-6+ years directly related experience.

Both levels:

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various complex components;

  • Demonstrated skills in the use of advanced controls techniques and a working knowledge of power plant control systems ;

  • In-depth knowledge of industry advances in control system monitoring, testing, and analysis of controls equipment;

  • In-depth knowledge of field instrumentation and control valves;

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and electronics theory;

  • Knowledge of engineering theories and principles;

  • Strong personal computer skills;

  • Proven decision-making skills;

  • Ability to solve problems and to process information quickly;

  • Knowledge of operating systems including Windows/Linux desired;

  • Working knowledge of SQL and a programming language desired.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s): Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Engineering

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
