Job description

We are seeking an experienced professional Test analyst to design test cases/scripts, maintain test plans/conditions/traceability, and coordinate testing and system validation with clinical/workstream teams and Digital Services stakeholders, Test Case Preparation

  • Review requirements, workflows, and specifications.
  • Create detailed test scripts and scenarios.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements and test cases.
  • Define expected results.

Test Execution

  • Execute test scripts within SIT and UAT cycles.
  • Validate functional and integration scenarios.
  • Perform end-to-end testing across systems.
  • Record results and evidence.

HL7 / Integration Validation

  • Validate ADT message flows and data accuracy.
  • Verify segment mapping (PID, PV1, PV2, MRG, EVN).
  • Confirm field-level mappings:
  1. patient demographics
  2. location/bed data
  3. identifiers.
  • Validate acknowledgements and message behaviour.

Defect Logging & Retesting

  • Log defects with clear replication steps.
  • Provide screenshots and evidence.
  • Retest fixes and confirm closure.
  • Validate no regression issues.

Data Validation

  • Check accuracy of:
  1. patient identifiers
  2. demographics
  3. encounter data
  4. location mapping.
  • Compare source vs target system outputs.

UAT Support

  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning and user guidance.
  • Facilitates user sessions with SMEs, captures feedback, and ensures traceability to requirements.

Documentation & Evidence

  • Update test execution records.
  • Capture evidence for audit and clinical safety.
  • Maintain accurate traceability logs.

Collaboration

  • Work with SMEs, Business change, Configuration, developers, integration analysts, and clinicians.
  • Participate in defect triage and daily stand-ups.
  • Escalate issues early

Requirements

  • Work collaboratively with communications and engagement colleagues to support wider Trust and Group campaigns and priorities as required.
  • Resilient and adaptable in complex program environments.
  • Support the development and application of communications and engagement standards, helping services improve the quality, consistency and effectiveness of their communications.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Ability to plan and prioritize own and others workload. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Microsoft Project/Visio - or similar software package.
  • Always demonstrates integrity and confidentiality. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Frequent use of visual display equipment (VDU) for periods of up to 3-4 hours at a time to produce communications materials and digital content.
  • Sustained concentration is required to manage multiple priorities, engagement activities and deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • The post holder will attend, contribute to and occasionally support or facilitate meetings and engagement sessions with varied audiences.
  • The role requires presenting information in an engaging and accessible way, including face-to-face and digital engagement activity.
  • Exposure to unpleasant working conditions or hazards is rare.
  • The post holder will be office-based with regular travel required to ULTH and other Group sites, including the Northampton Hospital site.
  • Flexibility is required to meet the needs of a 24/7 organisation, including occasional work outside normal office hours to support engagement events and activity.

Benefits & conditions

If Hybrid, how many days are required in office - To be agreed based on project needs (1 or 2 days per week)

Contractor Rate (if applicable) - £350 to 370 Per day

Duration of assignment - 6 months with likely extension
