Job description

Job Description: We are seeking a Network Operations Center Technician to join our dynamic team at Connext. This is an entry level position but the ideal candidate will have a foundation in networking, IT or computer science. We are also looking for experience with network equipment such as routers, switches, or GPON Optical Line Terminals, but training will be provided for the right candidate. As a Network Operations Center Technician, you will play a critical role in monitoring network stability and performance while helping expand the network as the company continues to grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches and other network equipment.

  • Monitor network performance through established automated monitoring systems and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.

  • Collaborate with other departments to plan and execute network upgrades and expansion into new regions.

  • Provide technical support and assistance to internal teams and external customers through ticketing systems and phone support.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, document network design/changes, and be able to conduct after-hours work when required.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to uphold the availability of the network out of hours and provide timely situational awareness for outages

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field is preferred and 1-2 years experience in a similar environment is desirable.

  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts and familiarity with router/switch CLI will be advantageous.

  • Experience with networking monitoring, diagnostic, and visualization tools such as Zabbix or Grafana.

  • Strong communications skills will be required to communicate with customers and other departments.

  • Willingness to work after hours, weekends and participate in an on-call rotation
