Job description

The Mainframe Software Developer will support a core banking technology team responsible for money movement and currency flow applications across enterprise financial products and services. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing mainframe-based systems, developing new functionality, performing system clean-up activities, and ensuring stable, compliant operation of critical applications. Responsibilities

  • Participate in moderately complex software engineering initiatives and contribute to large-scale delivery planning
  • Analyze and resolve moderately complex technical challenges requiring evaluation of multiple variables
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications supporting money movement systems
  • Perform application updates, feature enhancements, system cleanups, and location maintenance
  • Collaborate with software engineers, stakeholders, and client-facing technology teams to deliver solutions
  • Contribute to issue resolution while adhering to established policies, procedures, security, and compliance requirements
  • Support production operations and scheduled processing as needed

Requirements

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work, consulting, training, military experience, or education
  • Hands-on experience with IBM mainframe technologies, including:
  • COBOL
  • JCL (Job Control Language)
  • DB2
  • VSAM
  • CICS
  • Experience working with enterprise-level batch and transaction processing environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the following mainframe tools and technologies:
  • CA7 Scheduler
  • Network Data Mover (NDM)
  • IBM Mainframe Utilities
  • SDSF
  • IBM SPUFI
  • RACF Security
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or similar AI tooling) within the software development lifecycle
