Our AI initiatives include the development of state-of-the-art AI platforms that incorporate both open and proprietary enterprise foundational models to empower diverse applications across enterprise, government, and academic domains. AI- CCORE is seeking a highly skilled AI Platform Engineer to design, develop, and maintain an AI platform that integrates foundational models, supports the creation of LLM stacks, and enables scalable AI solutions. You will work at the intersection of research, education, training, and engineering, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust, efficient, and ethical AI deployments. AI- CCORE (AI Collaborative for outreach research and education) is UNO funded facility which envisions being a global leader and a 1-stop shop for custom AI services and education, producing AI-specialists and leaders for socio-economic progress and well-being of the state of Nebraska and beyond. AI- CCORE will serve as a catalyst for AI-driven innovation, fostering partnerships between businesses and students and position the state as a leading multidisciplinary, translational AI corridor in the nation, driving economic growth while promoting responsible AI development.
Job Duties
Responsibility Area: Design and Implementation
Duties:
Design and implement an AI platform that integrates open-source and proprietary enterprise foundational models for research, enterprise applications and AI intern preparation, masterclasses and bootcamps., * Develop, optimize, and maintain LLM stacks tailored to specific use cases, such as natural language processing, computer vision, and recommendation systems.
- Develop AI platforms to support faculty in designing AI bootcamps, masterclasses and preparing AI interns., * Create scalable APIs and interfaces for seamless integration of AI models into enterprise and academic systems.
- Architect infrastructure to support model training, fine-tuning, and deployment at scale., Collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to identify and implement cutting-edge AI technologies., Ensure the security, compliance, and ethical use of AI models and data pipelines., Monitor platform performance and troubleshoot issues to optimize functionality and user experience., Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on AI platform best practices.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field., * Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining AI infrastructure.
- Expertise in foundational models ( GPT, BERT, etc.) and their customization.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms ( AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with MLOps tools and frameworks (TensorFlow Serving, MLflow, etc.).
- Understanding of distributed systems and high-performance computing.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and multi-modal AI.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (especially AWS and/or Azure) and their security features.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment., Master's degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with a focus on LLMs and AI platform development.
- Experience with enterprise-scale AI applications and model lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of ethical AI principles and regulatory compliance in AI deployments.
- Contributions to open-source AI projects or publications in relevant fields.
