Facilities Management at the University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a Geospatial Space Analyst to join the Geospatial Engineering Service Team. This position provides geospatial data analysis and information maintenance services to support customer requests for geospatial solutions. In addition, the position also supports updating floorplans to reflect renovations and new construction. An effective Geospatial Space Analyst will work through collaborative partnerships with project managers, consultants, contractors, facilities staff, and space managers to develop solutions to support strategic space planning and information management., * Analyze university wide space inventory data using various data analysis methodology, geospatial and database tools to determine data quality, completeness and reliability of values.
- Develop and maintain standard space reports and reporting services to support efficient data request needs for frequently needed data sets.
- Identify and analyze data and trends to determine areas of opportunity for space utilization and space performance improvement, operational efficiency, and inventory improvements.
- Consult with supervisor regarding relational data systems changes necessary to maintain and develop the space management system.
- Manage the space planning assignments, as well as producing the appropriate reports.
- Ensure ongoing data transfer and integration between University enterprise business systems.
- Maintain space inventory data to support regulatory reporting requirements.
- Create, modify, and maintain AutoCAD drawings to provide accurate floor plans and occupancy information.
- Ensure the accuracy of drawings provided by consultants through field measurements and construction project documentation review phases.
- Conduct space walk audits to validate space occupancy data accuracy.
- Partner with other departments on move and relocation sequencing and execution.
- Train customers on space planning solutions provided by the Geospatial Engineering Services department.
- Train space managers and other customers across university departments on space data standards.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Geography, Planning, Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering or Computer-aided Drafting and Design or equivalent combination of education and/or experience with significant coursework in computer-aided drafting and design, geography, environmental sciences or planning.
- Experience:A minimum of four years of professional experience utilizing geospatial platforms such as AutoCAD and ArcGIS, as well as analyzing, developing, integrating, and managing a variety of large-scale data sets to aid in spatial planning and management decisions is required.
Required Computer Applications:
- AutoCAD or other similar geospatial software.
- Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
- SQL or similar relational database.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience integrating space information with other enterprise information systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Postsecondary Education Facilities Inventory and Classification Manual (FICM) standards for space inventory coding.
Preferred Computer Applications:
- Experience utilizing an enterprise space information management system such as FMS:Workplace, Archibus, or AssetWorks AiM
- Experience with Autodesk Revit or other Building Information Modeling tools.
